10 More Galgos Start New Lives

Homing the latest group of 10 galgos has certainly been different. As soon as photos and details were publicised phone calls started. Initially people were a bit unsure of the concept of actually reserving a dog from photos before it actually arrived in the UK, but the more I talked it through with them the idea became clearer and people began to be confident enough to give it a try.

The dogs did not all go “home” on the same day but all stayed at Precious Pets for about 4 weeks. During those weeks, as they were not in quarantine but boarding, they were able to have runs in the paddock area. Steve and Paula said that seeing the 10 running together in the paddock enhanced their conception of what magnificent dogs the galgos are. Despite a couple of people having to withdraw their reservations, all 10 dogs had left the kennels by 16th February to begin their new lives. I feel the new way has worked successfully as feedback so far has been good.

I feel very privileged to have been allowed to home the galgos for a bit over eight years – a total of 128 galgos, work that has given me great pleasure, so it is with much regret that I now have to step away for personal reasons. I shall miss this work a great deal. I am not walking away from GIN totally as I hope to be able to help in some small way.

Sincere thanks to all who have given me such loyal support over the years.
